Stitch for Change is a transformative initiative by Navya India Foundation that empowers the women of the Vantangiya community in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh by addressing menstrual health awareness, sustainable hygiene solutions, and economic independence. In many underserved communities, menstruation remains a taboo topic, leading to lack of education, unhygienic practices, and limited access to safe sanitary products. Disposable sanitary pads are often too expensive or unavailable, forcing women to use unsafe alternatives such as old cloth, ash, or even hay, leading to serious health risks.
Outcome
Through education, training, and skill-building, Stitch for Change provides a sustainable, long-term solution—helping women take control of their health, break the stigma around menstruation, and generate an income by creating and selling reusable cloth pads.
